Preliminary Task #1: Song Selection and Genre

We were torn between two powerful songs, each with its own distinct vibe and emotional depth, both fitting well with the story we wanted to tell in our music video. Each track seemed to capture different aspects of the protagonist’s journey—her isolation, inner chaos, and her only solace being her imagined friend. After listening multiple times and weighing how each song would shape the mood, we finally decided on Ikisvi Sadi by Biryani Brothers. Its haunting melody and introspective lyrics felt like a perfect match, resonating deeply with the themes of feeling misunderstood and searching for connection. The song’s emotional depth and subtle tension brought out the essence of our character’s struggles, making it an ideal soundtrack for our psychological drama.

The genre of our music video is psychological drama, with elements of an indie/alternative aesthetic. The video delves into the emotional struggles of the protagonist, who feels isolated and misunderstood due to her mental illness. She finds solace only in a hallucination, which highlights her sense of disconnection from the people around her, including her mother. The visual style reflects her loneliness and inner turmoil, using quiet, introspective shots to convey her experience of isolation and confusion. This psychological approach invites the viewer to empathize with her unseen battles, blending raw emotion with a haunting, moody tone typical of indie music videos.
